Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Overview
This policy explains what cookies are, which types of cookies and similar technologies we use on this website, and how you can change your settings at any time. It supplements our privacy policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They make it possible to recognise your device on a return visit, save settings or collect usage data. In addition to cookies we may use comparable technologies such as local storage, session storage or tracking pixels.
2. Legal basis
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and equivalent provincial privacy legislation, we rely on your implied consent for strictly necessary cookies that are essential to operate the site. All other cookies (analytics, advertising) are only set and read on the basis of your express opt-in consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
3. Categories used
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
- cp_cookie_consent — stores your choice in the consent banner so it is not shown on every page view. Storage location: local storage. Retention: 12 months. Provider: Fednewcane (first party).
- Session and security objects — used for stable page delivery and protection against abuse. Retention: until the browser session ends.
3.2 Analytics cookies (consent required)
- Audience measurement — records, in anonymised form, which sections are read and how long visitors stay on the page. Purpose: improving content and loading times. Retention: up to 13 months.
3.3 Advertising cookies (consent required)
- Outbrain / Taboola conversion pixel — measures whether a purchase was completed after clicking an advertising recommendation and caps the number of ad impressions. Retention: up to 13 months.
- Meta and Google advertising pixels — enable conversion measurement and the management of interest-based advertising. Retention: up to 13 months.
- Affiliate tracking — attributes a referred purchase to the referring page. Retention: usually 30 days.
4. Giving, changing or withdrawing consent
On your first visit you can decide in the consent banner which categories you allow. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time with effect for the future.
Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent up to that point. If you decline non-essential cookies, the website remains fully usable.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
Independently of our banner you can view cookies in your browser settings, delete them individually or entirely, and block future storage. Instructions are available in the help pages of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari or your mobile operating system. Note that fully blocking cookies may mean you are asked for your choice on every visit.
6. Third-party providers and data transfers
Advertising cookies are set by third-party providers that in some cases process data outside Canada, in particular in the United States and the European Union. In those cases we rely on contractual safeguards comparable to Canadian standards or on your express consent. Details can be found in each provider's own privacy policy.
7. Updates
We review this policy regularly and update it when we adopt new technology or the law changes. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
